Our Story
The GoldFish brand was established in 1994 as a family business with the hope of creating Asian Food using traditional ingredients in Australia. We aspired to supply products that not only bring out the flavours of our heritage to our new home. But the culture and memories as well.
Our company logo is a Goldfish suspended inside golden circles. Although this may seem simplistic, in Chinese culture, the symbolic meaning is far from simple. In our culture, a goldfish holds many complex and important meanings. Firstly, goldfish are an important Chinese symbol due to its gold nature and their association with wealth. This is combined with the translated word for fish in Chinese – yú, 鱼 (in Pinyin). yú or 鱼in Chinese is synonymous with 裕 or yù, meaning abundance. Thus, the goldfish is symbolic of an abundance of wealth.
Moreover, beyond the visual design, circles or rings are an important cultural symbol overloaded with many meanings. Some of the meanings associated with the circle or ring include harmony, balance – particularly the balance of yin and yang – perfection, oneness and unity, fulfilment, togetherness and collaboration.
Our logo distinctly represents our values and identity as a company. Our wish for Australians is not simply to purchase our products for consumption, but we also hope our products bring you happiness, wealth and prosperity.
Additionally, our stamp features a Willow Tree; a symbol of everlasting life, immortality and rebirth. This is because our traditional asian products – often traditionally used medicinally and culturally – have a connection with prosperity, longevity. For example, our ingredients are often used in Chinese medicine as disinfectants and antiseptics to reduce and treat fever, pain, headaches, and inflammatory conditions such as arthriti
